Country holiday cottages around Fort William

A country cottage in the Fort Willian area of the Highlands is traditionally a small, single storey building which has been modernised. You will normally find cottages in remote glens or by the sea or by the shore of a Highland loch. Sometimes a new home is built on a family croft and the old cottage is modernised and offered as holiday accommodation. Cottages can also be found in a few of our local holiday parks which offer visitors a variety or accommodation.

The listings below are properties which are located in and around the entire Fort William area including Glencoe, Road to the Isles, Ardnamurchan and Great Glen, so please check the address and ask or confirm how far these cottages are from Fort Wililam if this is important to you. All the properties are within the Lochaber area and no more than an hour from the town centre, depending on traffic levels in the summer.
Sheperd's Cottage
Sheperd's Cottage, Achintee Farm is situated amongst the mountain splendour of Glen Nevis, at the very foot of Ben Nevis yet only 2km. from Fort William. There is plenty of walking right from your front door, either on the hills or along the riverbanks of the Nevis. Perfect location for climbing Ben Nevis. Hiding in the trees within its own fenced garden, the 18th century stone self catering cottage has a particularly traditional atmosphere about it including a real open fire.... a special holiday for two. In the cottage there is one bedroom with a king-sized bed, a lounge/kitchen with open fire and a bathroom including a shower over the bath. Oil filled radiators are in each room keeping the cottage warm and cosy. We do not take pets. Electricity, linen and towels, and fuel for the fire are included in the price. There is free wifi access at the main farm house as well as good drying rooms. As the cottage has no washing machine we do any laundry you may have free of charge at the farm house. Across the drive from the cottage the old stone barn has been converted into a licensed restaurant and climbers' bar - Ben Nevis Inn. Achintee is also centrally located for days trips to for example: Loch Ness, the Isle of Skye, and the white sandy beaches at Morar. Take the steam train to Mallaig, a boat trip to Seal island or a cable car ride at Aonach Mor. We have lived in Glen Nevis for many years and are glad to share our local knowledge if you need any advice or guidance. We also have a Bed and Breakfast and a Hostel at Achintee Farm.
