Autumn breaks

Fort William can be a great place for a quiet short break or holiday

Autumn and winter in the Fort William area is often a magical time of year. Cover 19 has had a devastating impact on tourism in the Highlands. We are optimistic that people can consider an autumn break to Fort William.

Our forested glens are changing colour in all their splendour, then when the temperature drops and the mountains are covered in snow, the scenery changes again. Look out for high-pressure over the West Highlands when the weather here can be superb, with bright frosty mornings and awesome winter sunsets.

Book an exciting outdoor adventure activity with one of our outdoor activity providers who offer quad bike tours, via ferrata vertical climbs, guided walking up Ben Nevis, sea trips on leisurely cruise boats or high speed RIBs, fly fishing lessons, archery, sea-kayaking trips or crazy paint-balling sessions.

If winter climbing or ice climbing is something you would like to try, our outdoor mountain guides are here to offer a variety of climbing experiences. Nevis Range is open in time for Christmas and a gondola ride to their mountain restaurant is a really good activitiyy - take your camera or video cos the views can be stunning - especially in the middle of the afternoon as the sun is setting...

Lots of B & Bs, guesthouses, hotels, self catering places and of course our restaurants and pubs are here to welcome you and to help you make the most of your visit to Fort William and Lochaber, the outdoor capital of the UK.

What are you waiting for ? Check out our accommodation providers to see what on offer and don't forget to book a table for dinner
