Nautical & Marine Services

Fort William lies at the southern end of the Caledonian where it joins Loch Linnhe and the Atlantic Ocean. We have a good base of marine services

Fort William is the location of the southern end of the Caledonian Canal allowing visiting yachts from all over the Baltic and northern Europe to access the Atlantic from the North Sea. Visiting yachts to Fort William mostly tie up in the Caledonian Canal basin at Corpach, there are also secure visitor moorings on the water front at Fort William by Lochaber Yacht Club.  The Caledonian Canal is operated by Scottish Canals.

Lochaber Yacht Club is based in Fort William and is the most active sailing club in the area. Others include Glencoe Boat Club and Ardnamurchan Sailing Association

Services for visiting yachts are good with visitor moorings at Fort William by the local sailing club. There are a number of yacht and boat charter businesses in Lochaber.

Other local marine services include, GaelForce Marine, a Fort William marine engineering business involved in the building, repair, servicing and laying-up of all kinds of vessels. Arisaig Marine have moorings and a pontoon with other marine services for yachts. At Mallaig, there is a fabulous marina and services for yachts and motor sailers which is great for cruising around the Sound of Sleat or navigating north or south to other destinations.
