Outdoor Bushcraft and Survival Courses

Take yourself into the wilderness with experienced bushcraft and survival trainer and learn about the ecology of the forests and woodlands of the Highlands.

Lochaber based, ecologist-led bushcraft and survival school. Wildwood Bushcraft run bushcraft days and weekends throughout the year in beautiful woodlands in Glen Nevis, other sites in Lochaber and the Trossachs. We offer a range of bushcraft courses for individuals and families, as well as tailored bushcraft events for small groups, organisations or corporate teams. Our courses include bushcraft and survival weekends, woodland crafts, wildlife tracks and signs, firelighting with sparks and friction, knots and cord making, wild food and coastal foraging, plant ID and uses, and navigation skills.

The school was founded by Leon Durbin, who is both a qualified bushcraft instructor and an experienced wildlife biologist with a PhD and a BSc in Ecology. Our activities are fully insured and carefully planned in a framework of safety for participants and care for the environment. All our courses provide plenty of practical hands-on experience with expert guidance where needed. Get in touch and we'll do our best to give you an unforgettable wild experience in the Highlands. Whether it's a bushcraft birthday party, family wilderness experience on a west coast island, bushcraft canoe trip,  mountain navigation or carving and woodcraft day - you can join a public course or we can create a special experience for you.

If you are looking for a Ben Nevis Mountain Guide, Adventure Nevis is a Scottish-based guiding service offering classic mountain days on Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain, standing at 1,344 metres. The Ben Nevis mountain footpath ascent - 6 to 8 hours - is ideal for public, private and charity groups. For the slightly more experienced walker, Ben Nevis via the CMD arete - 8 to 10 hours - is a fantastic mountaineering experience. Thomas Telford Corpach Marina Ltd
If you are planning a visit to Fort William by sea be sure to book a berth at Thomas Telford Corpach Marina at the entrance to the Caledonian Canal. Our marina has 45 sheltered berths with fresh water and electricity. Ashore we have first class toilets and shower facilities and a small coffee shop. Close by are shops and pubs with regular transport into Fort William. Our marina is community owned and managed and is not directly involved with the Caledonian Canal. An Cafaidh Mara An Cafaidh Mara is our new coffee shop at the entrance to the Canal within our marina facilities building, open to customers seven days a week.  Check out their social media. Book a berth or slipway use If you are bringing a boat to Fort William we have a sheltered all weather slipway within the marina for launching and car parking of cars and trailers. Book online to launch your boat in Loch Linnhe. You can get to the marina by road along A82/A830 or by mailing train - Corpach Station is 100 metres from the marina. Discovering the Outdoor Capital of the UK from our marina will be easy with excellent transport links, car hire, shops, restaurants and marine services nearby.
